Robert,
Do you have receipts for the rebuilt? If you do, you can assess if it
really has been rebuilt or just refreshed with some new rings and
bearings.

When I disassembled the used engine I bought to build my 1380 motor, I
found the crank to be .010 under and with a mirror finish. So I guess it
was rebuilt not too long before the car was crashed.
But the engine had been sitting in a guy's garage for years and
unfortunately there was a small speck of rust in the center of the center
main that had eaten fairly deeply into the crank. It was great everywhere
else. The machine shop said this was ok and only polished the crank, the
hole really is very small, but I don't know what would have happened if I
had just run the motor.

The moral is, if you want to be sure, you have to disassemble it.

Ulix
