I always found the best place to be in the glovebox.   In your case a... "oh 
I'm sorry officer, it just fell off and my boyfriend hasn't had time to  put 
it back on for me"...smile or cry, your call...

for me...dang it! My wife drove it yesterday!  I wonder where she lost 
it?!!...
