A quick anecdote on this topic with LBC content:
My boss, who is a car guy too, makes a habit out of foiling my planned
vacation days. By doing this, he's trained me to call in sick instead of
scheduling a day off. I have three weeks of vacation time I am entitled to,
and I haven't taken any of it yet this year! When I wanted to take a Friday
off to pick up my last car ('59 BN7) that I had been really looking forward
to bringing home since making the final payment arrangements, he told me,
"Sorry, but sometimes things weren't meant to be." Kinda tweaked me inside,
but not my American corporate face outside! I found out that his Wife had
very recently put the nix on his purchase of a Ferrari Dino (yup he's got
that kind of scratch) HE had wanted. I guess if he couldn't get his, I
should also feel the pain. I simply picked up my new Healey on Saturday,
and enjoyed myself anyway. I have a car-lover for a wife. I'll admit that
she handles the BN7's shift/clutch/gas coordination better than I do. It's
fun to ride with her!
