Whitney about 7 years ago. No problems at all. The front end tracked much
straighter, and the ride was noticeable more pleasant. No road feel was
lost, and the car felt tighter, in a good way. I felt much more confident
cornering at speed with the tube shocks installed vs. the lever. I don't
have any skidpad numbers to report, just my tactile (read butt) feedback.

Were those NEW lever shocks you replaced, or worn out old ones that didn't
work? I would suspect that new tube shocks would work better than old, worn
out lever shocks. When you replaced the shocks, did you also take the time
to change the suspension bushings?
I think it is difficult to get a really subjective answer.
