I'd be inclined to believe you've got it on track OK.
The smaller chokes are what are allowing/creating a high 
enough velocity through the throats to properly draw fuel and 
have it atomize efficiently.

The car runs very strong and will stay on a AH 3000's bumper up past the
century mark. I don't have the nerve anymore to find out how much past that
it will go.

The engine turns over 7 grand and pulls strong in all gears.

It uses no oil and gets about 25 MPG when cruising at 70 so it can't be far
amiss.

It does however bother me that it will not run on the larger chokes.
