That's consistently the most reliable way to go, and you could throw in the
"shortcut" to 684 on the Sawmill River Parkway - a great little road, but be
prepared for a few traffic lights (!)

If traffic is light we will stay on 287 over to 95, and if it's really heavy
we'll go up 87 to Albany (I'm going to Vermont, not Central Mass). The
Tappan Zee can sometimes be horrendous going east.

BTW, consider getting an EZ-Pass - they can save a lot of time and hassle -
especially on the GSP.
