Definitely a better Route than 95. (that is the GW Bridge, Cross Bronx 
Expressway and this section of stop and stop traffic in CT, all guaranteed 
disasters)

287 is a better bet, but you can find traffic on the Tappan Zee Bridge, and 
Cross Westchester Exp. from 684 it should be smooth sailing.

My suggestion is take 87 North (NYS Thruway) to Newburg and then 84 East. 
This may be more a few more driving miles, but you will avoid big population 
centers.
