One thing I have learned in the last year of being on
the list and rewiring my 69 Sprite is:

"IT"S THE GROUND".....but I tried....."IT"S THE
GROUND"...but I checked..."IT"S THE GROUND"....but
isn't it supposed to......"IT"S THE GROUND". Hmmmm, I
think it must be the ground.

Some kind soul noted that as young man his father
taught him to ground it all. Don't trust the original
equipment. I followed their instructions. Got a roll
of fairly heavy black wire and started at the battery
with it hooked to the negative post with a good
connector, ran it down the left side of the
car(inside), around the back, through the trunk, up
the right side of the car, around the front behind the
headlights and back to the point near where I began. I
went around and grounded every thing to that ground,
in addition to the original grounds. Grounded it to
the body at the back of the trunk at th license plate
light and at the right front fenderwell where there
are fittings for such. Grounded it to the firewall and
then grounded lights,engine, and everything
imaginable. It worked. Cut out most of the problems of
intermittent this and intermittent that. As soon as
someone pointed out the proper attachment sequence for
the headlight plugs :-)I found that everything was
much easier to trouble shoot.

Short of sacrificing a virgin to Lord Lucas, Prince of
Darkness, it is the only way. :-)

Good luck. bill b.
