Sorry Bob,

I have to correct you here. Both butterflies need to be set to matched
(identical) movement with no screw adjustment first. Pulling  the throttle
cable open should cause BOTH linkages to engage the butterfly at precisely
the same moment. ONLY then can you proceed to try to adjust and balance
them. Your method requires compensation all along the rest of the process.

The problems with these carbs are not balance, but probably unequal spring
pressure. These are the ones I was struggling with a few months ago. I
finalyy got it to run nearly right, but Will has rebuilt them and it sounds
like he is experiencing the same problem I struggloed with at that time.
One carb wants to suck more air than the other because one piston rises
much faster and higher than the other. I was able to compensate somewhat by
using heavier oil in the damper than I normally use.
