Rostyle lugnut question

I located the chrome "mushroom taper" Dorman lugnuts made for alloy wheels
and bought 16 of them. Those of you with an opinion said I could use these
to mount my KN Minotors now that I have 7/16 wheel studs.

The autoparts guy (who has proven in the past to be less than an expert on
parts) has assured me that these same lug nuts can be used to position and
fasten steel wheels (like the Rostyle). What is the opinion of the list?
My street tires are on a set of late-model BMC Rostyle wheels, so it'd be
good if they didn't come off unexpectedly.

My experience with the stock studs was that the longer taper of the nuts for
the Minotors bottomed out before fastening the Rostyles. Are the
mushroom-shaped tapered nuts more universal because of their shape?

TIA
