Yes, it can be towed 2 wheels on the ground, but you need to disconnect
the driveshaft first, and make sure there's adequate lube in the rear
end. Rubber bumper Midgets (which I have) are a little over 11 feet long
by 4 1/2 feet wide or so, so I'd assume a Bugeye is a tad shorter. I can
fit my Midgets wheelbase on an 8 foot piece of picket fence (see
http://home.comcast.net/~kvcbk/os1_windscreen_800.jpg), so the wheels
should fit on a 10' trailer. In fact, some people have loaded a Bugeye
in the bed of a full-size pickup. Late Midgets weigh in at about 1850
lbs, I think Bugeyes are 1600 lbs or less.

Morning all,

I am about to pick up my very own '59 bugeye. However, I have loaned
my 16 ft trailer to some fine folks to make a Mardi Gras float so I can
not use it. I have 2 options, a tow dolly (2 wheels and the cars
wheels sit on it) or a small 10ft trailer. My questions are, how much
does a Bugeye weigh, are there problems towing it with the rear wheels
on the ground (about 200 miles), will it fit on a 10 ft trailer, and
what things should I check before starting the Bugeye? (Yes, I'll
check oil and gas, current owner says that he hasn't done anything to
the car, can't tell me if it has been converted to neg ground, etc.)

Thanks,

lester
