Tried doing the centre first, and sides first.  No luck.  I have decided
to plump for the correct fitting tool from Moss.  Yes, it's fifteen
quid, but it's going to save me a lot of time, and every hour I spend on
the car, whilst highly enjoyable in the main, is an hour that I could
have spent working on my business.

If anyone wants to buy the tool off me when I'm done, it's yours for
only #20!  ;)
