Try a bit of penetrating oil on the splines.
Then try a bit of heat from a torch , Blue wrench (not a flashlight) ;)
Heat the wheel, not the column.
Put the nut back on flush with the treads and snack with a hammer once 
or twice dead on. Now try pulling it off.
Or if you wanted to buy a puller, this works great too.
