nostalgia of seeing a bird they flew on or suppoerted is priceless!
I was kind of leaning towards the B 24 anyway. There are apparently 13-14 B
17's still flying, but only 2-3 24's, or that's what the radio guys said.
A few years ago these guys came and I got to walk around them, but didn't
take a ride. I was in the Rotary Club at the time, and sat for a Rotary
luncheon with two pilots and a copilot that flew their 26 missions in 17's.
When I
went out to see the planes, one of them was standing there watching them
taxi in. The look on his face was priceless.
OK...I'll break the news to the wife. Wonder if I still fit in my old
bomber jacket?
