In the State of CT, the vehicle must be flat-bedded to the main office
of the Motor Vehicle Department for a pre-scheduled thorough
bumper-to-bumper safety inspection. In our fine state, insurance is not
an issue unless the owner of record when it was declared a total wants
to continue to insure it for physical damage under the same insurance
policy that paid the total loss. In that case the insurance company
would ask for proof of repair only for verification that they were not
insuring an already damaged vehicle.
