as to driving with a manual..
click and clack, the tappet brothers recommend this.. i've used
it to teach my daughter, son, and nephew...
have her start the car, then push in the clutch, and put it
into 1st gear. her objective it to make the car go WITHOUT
USING ANY THROTTLE.. that is, release the clutch without giving
it any gas, and NOT killing the engine.
the purpose of this is to teach clutch "feel"... where it
releases, how fast it releases, and where it slips...
have her to it over and over until she "gets it", gets bored,
or starts to get frustrated. you know her limits, don't push,
remain patient and understanding.
only after she can do it, whether one lesson or .. ..??? do
you start to teach how to actually shift, up, down etc...
a sprite IS harder to teach than other cars, because the range
of motion is so tiny.. its more like having buttons for gas,
clutch and well the brakes are manual and that'll take some
getting used to! .. the steering is soooo quick, the shift
lever doesn't move far.. the motions are all relatively
precise, BUT, if she can drive a sprite, she can drive ANY
MANUAL TRANNY FOREVERAFTER!
