So how do you determine if it's dirty?
Ever see oil coming out of a natural gas fired engine?  It's clear after 
3,000 HOURS.....and cooked.  Oil analysis is the only way to determine the 
condition of oil...but it doesn't make sense for cars, hence the 3,000 mile 
recommendation.
