It was her attitude of " i want to win I want to win I want to win" that she
repeatedly said while jumping up and down, combined with her "don't vote for
him vote for me because I really want to win" speech and attitude that bothered
me. I took 3rd and was thrilled at that. But that she beat all of the other
cars in that field for peoples choice is what astounds me.

I never could understand why some people take these shows so
seriously........entrant's choice balloting typically means that at least
75% of the people voting for a car in each class have no clue as to what
they are looking at. Yet some people get all bent out of shape if their car
doesn't "win". Reminds me of a good (true) story:
Several years ago, at a fairly large show, I was involved in counting
ballots to determine class winners. In one class, there was one outstanding
car and a couple of, well, not very outstanding cars. While compiling the
list of winners, after the votes were tallied, one of our club members asked
who had gotten the most votes for this class. After being told it was the
"outstanding" car, my friend said "We can't award first place to that guy."
"Why not?" I asked. Answer: "Because he's an asshole." Several other club
members, who also knew the owner of the outstanding car echoed the same
opinion.
On that day, a new club tradition was started: We don't knowingly award
first prize, in any of our car show classes, to assholes.
