BTW.. Yhis is a big truck, F700, and I also replaced the top tank on (made
of plastic) as it has some small cracks in it.  The two other tanks (center
and the lower cooler tank show no signs of leaks and I am not loosing any
coolant even thru the overflow hose which it would do if the cap was weak.
Later today the mech guage should give a clearer pic.  And the UPPER range
of Normal isn't normal:) L is the step before it pegs

Check the radiator cap.  Is it sealing properly?  Could there be a pin hole
leak somewhere in the hoses or radiator?  These are pressurized systems. If
the pressure is too low (leak somewhere), they will overheat. Especially
under load.
