Thickos:
Here in Canada the Border is on Red alert expecting
your arrival.

Right now, the competition in the small bore group is
REALLY good.

John Ashburne, Turner 1959 MKI 948
Paul Fitzsimmons Austin 1959 Sprite MK 1 948
Roger Garnett, Austin Healey 1959 Spite MKI 998
Brian Hunt, Austin Healey 1959 Spite MKI 998
Bob Mason, Austin Healey 1959 Sprite MK 1 948
John Master, Turner 1959 MKI Climax 1098
Richard Miller, Lotus 1959 7 - Series 1 998
Frank Mount, MG 1946 TC 1350
Skip Persson, Alfa Romeo 1959 Guilietta Sprint 1290
Thane Pressman, Turner 1959 Mk I Climax 1098
Mike Rosen, VAY SPECIAL 1958 998
Peter Ross, MG 1949 TC 1486 "
Jeff Schur, Turner 1959 MK 1 Climax
Ken Stephen, Alfa Romeo 1957 Guilieta Sprint 1290
Dave Turnbull, Lotus 1959 Seven Series I 948
Ron Watson, MG 1961 Midget 998
Van Worsdale, Lotus 1961 Seven Series I 948

not all these cars are in the same class but it's some
of the 40 cars in the race group which will probably
form 2 grids of cars over and under a certain lap time.

A good lap in a 948cc car is usually in the 1:52 - 1:57
range. Every now and then due to either a perfect day
or a timing anomaly there's a 1:49 or 1:50 but it's not
unusual to see Sprites run anywhere up to 2:00

Hunt is probably the fastest Sprite but Mason can run
in there as well. Last year I just nipped Mason for
the 1st time.
My fastest lap in the VAY is a 1:52 flat but I have to
drive the wheels off it do it.
The VAY is a little lighter than a Sprite (it's a
really heavy sports racer) but is on 5.0 L 15 and 4.50
L 15 bias ply tires so it has trouble cornering with
the 13" tired cars.

What you find at Mosport is that it's a 50/50
split...the 13" sticky radials gain on the corners but
skinny Dunlops like mine are alot faster on the LOOOONG
uphill back straight.

My favourite experience at Mosport is finding out
driver's reactions after the first time they drive
corner 2
A downhill left hand double apex corner that feels off
camber (it's actually no camber)

Almost evry corner is blind and the apexes are always
further around the corner than they first appear.

Ask Elmo his opinion...he's been there.

Mike
