Hi Roland: Why Censor. If the Mercedes group wants to hear about good
engineering, it really doen't matter what kind of car.

BTW, it was not Presone, but Valvoline/Zerox.

I talked to their chemist, Phd, etc, but a guy with some straight info,
real world, knows alot. Comfirmed, and almost repeated, what was said
in "That other car posting", without me telling him of the article. He
said;

1. Mercedes spec their antifreeze to Europe spec because of bad water
there, and they want loooooooooog life on the cars. This came from the
top engineer at Mercedes.

2. Mercedes antifreeze is very expensive to make because of the
inhibiors, when are very expensive, ie $10/gal at dealer.

3. The MSDS sheets show for the first 3 ingredients 89% ethylene glycol,
0-10% diethylene glycol, and then for MB 0-7% sodium tetraborate
pentahydrate vs 0-7% dipostassium phosphate, (sound like that article
again) then the expensive inhibitors for MB and very good inhibitors or
Zerox.

4. I asked him about tap vs bottled water, and he said that the bottled
water, except distilled water from a lab source, is not good. They did
test, and got percipitate from the none lab distilled water that they
could not identify, even with expensive lab test. Just clogged up the
system. Further, that in calling the bottled water chemist, he was
supprised what they used. Really is drinking water, looks good, feels
good, taste good. In vouge.

5. He said that if tap water is reasonable, ie pH>4.0, which to me is
very acid, at least in pools, that it is OK. Watch areas with high
mineral content. Call Water Co. for report.

6. Said, use name brand antifreeze, change every 2 years, use tap water
if OK, see above, and enjoy.

He talked about issues with BMW, MB, their top engineers, and need to
look at car warranty and antifreeze, but then to go with above. He used
MB in Ford, and Zerox in Chrysler. But could go either way.
