Allan,

Brilliant idea, but for another reason.  If there is excess heat affecting the
rubber inside that pretty stainless braid (which can't carry a liquid without
leaking) you would not know it until it leaked.   Too late.

With your external "insulator" you have also added a thermal damage indicator.
If it starts changing color, it's getting hot.  Stainless will conduct heat to
the inner hose nicely.

Good advice.
