Earlier in the week you wrote about your need of a 289 Harmonic balancer.I
suspected that you were going to use it on the 302 that you told the list
about some time back.I have a similar project in the works.I got into a long
discussion on engine reciprocating harmonics with Chris at Fowler engines
before buying the part that met my need for my project.So...

Probably to be more specific you are looking for a 3-hole 28 oz
imbalance(early as in 1968 to 81 using the 28oz imbalance,the 50oz used later
than 81. 302ci(early) vs 5.0L(late)) 302 harmonic balancer.This particular
critter was used for only 3years ,from mid 68 to 70.Good luck on finding this
piece of original equipment.
The SVO catalogue lists a steel harmonic balancer # M-6316-C351 that is what
you want.It is an all steel product and will (physically and harmonically)fit
289-302-351-AND 400 engines!(it says so on the box-so it would probably work
with a 260 as well-remember 260s were only officially produced for 2
years)The critical dimensions are the same as the original skinny hub 260
balancer, even though the outer hub(or flange) is noticeably thicker.Be
prepared to spend $250 or so for this item at your local Ford dealer.I bought
one of these for my project.
Your other choice in the matter is Ford Performance
solutions(www.f-p-s.com). thier catalougue lists an OEM 3 hole 28oz balancer
at $125.99,part# D2TZ-B, and a race balancer at 299.99(part#BHJEB289-7)
I would have used the FPS part for my uses as they supplied the stroker kit
for my project.I had already purchased the SVO part when I saw that they
carried what I was looking for at half my cost.
THe FPS west coast ph# is714-773-9027 and the Indiana # is 219-583-8088
I hope that answers your question,Tym
Tony
