Chris,

Thank you for your response on the question of whether a HiPo harmonic balancer
is
a direct replacement for a 28 oz external balance motor design, as most of our
260/289/early 302 cars are.

While at first you said that the internal weights of a HiPo were ONLY for the
heavier rods, which makes sense and wasn't known to most of us, you implied that
the balancer was otherwise the same 28 oz design as the stock unit.

Now I am reading your reply to this specific inter changeability question as
"No,
they are not interchangeable on a factory balanced motor that has NOT been
disassembled for rebuild, and the owner just wants the large HiPo balancer unit.

I am understanding from your 'one line' that the HiPo balancer does NOT have the
same 28 oz balance characteristics of the stock unit, and is NOT
interchangeable.
I am understanding that there are additional weights somewhere in the HiPo motor
to take care of this lack, as the ones in the timing chain case are only for the
heavier rods.

If you don't mind, could you spare the time to reply to all of us wanting to
understand by simply "quoting" this e-mail back to us with your words verifying
what we believe you are saying?

A simple "quote" keyboard stroke and a single line "Yes, all these statements
are
accurate" would be sufficient. If, of course, we correctly understand you.

Thank you for sharing your hands-on knowledge with us.

Steve
