I'm not sure about that. The second tank can only fill as fast as you can
move air out of it - through that five foot long 1/4" or 5/16" upper hose.
Another thing is that most fuel fill pumps (at self-serve stations, anyway)
don't pump all that fast. It wouldn't be too hard to run a little experiment
to see what is the smallest diameter hose you can put back there, and still
fill the tanks in a reasonable time.

In any event, the same thing still applies even if you end up using  the
largest hose the Earl's or Goodrich makes:
1. it's flexible
2. Leave it some slack so the tanks can move without tearing the fittings
off the tank.
