That's really not a half bad idea, Chris, you might try to hit up a local
artist's shop to see if you can get a piece the right size. Then you could
have it shipped to whoever does the dash cutting and finishing (if you
didn't want to do the woodwork yourself)

Chris,
1) Lots, from varied sources.
2) That's what veneer is for.
3) It's a lot cheaper than a 1/2 piece of solid burl walnut, and the plywood
doesn't warp in the weather (anyway the good plywood).
4) Unique opportunity for Chris to have the only Tiger with a genuine Koa
Wood
dashboard. Koa is indigenous to the Islands, and is really a good looking
piece. I have a very expensive ukulele made from it. (Well, Jay has, now.)
