Stu,

I agree that tap water is not the best for your engine. However, there
is a better choice than the discharge orifice of a dehumidifier.

Air conditioning IS a de-humidifier. The system carries the condensate
out a PVC pipe to dump it into the rain run-off system. Those lines must
be purged every so often to clear out the accumulated soluble junk
contained in the water as it was removed from the air by the refrigerant
coils, and came out in evaporation in the discharge system. Really ugly
looking stuff.

I dare say your refrigerator has a similar catch basin, with some pretty
ugly stuff in it, too.

Our markets carry 1 and 2 gallon containers of DISTILLED water, as well
as a lot of other kinds of processed water. I, like Mercedes, recommend
DISTILLED only (with antifreeze if you need it, or additive water pump
lubricant to pure water. We are talking pennies difference here, and the
only problem is most groceries don't know the difference, and are just
as likely to sell you "Mountain Spring", or "de-ionized", or "reverse
osmosis filtered and processed water".

Theoretically a de-ionized water ought to be OK, but there are "degrees"
of de-ionization, and State Laws on what must be done to call a product
"distilled." Play it safe.
