Bill, glad you are getting this all together on old 55. I will look
forward to reading it.
I hope some of you will get with Graham Harlow, and collaborate on
getting the history of all those other Tigers who had memorable race
history and related stories.
I was in the process of putting a series of "Fine Wine" interviews
together, before the death of Wally Swift. Wally had so much history,
that was unique, i.e. a Chrysler official, who was the east coast rep
for the Tiger. He knew everybody, part of his business, and he was one
of the best promoters of Tigers and Alpines I have ever met.
Unfortunately, we are loosing many who have the history, so any effort
you can make now, will in some cases be the last chance to get accurate
information on one of our favorite cars.
I hope we do not miss the unique stories of some of the people
associated with Tigers as well. One such instance, is how Wally used
two, yes two sway bars held together with hose clamps on his Alpine,
that was virtually unbeatable in autocross, even when Wally was in his
late 70's.
Lots of backyard engineering happened in the 60's through 80's, as
compared to the sophistication of today's cars, that we all accept as
normal.
