What brake fluid does, is absorb water and get all gunky. Then the water
goes to work on the metal parts of your brakes system and causes corrosion.
The absolute minimum you should do is bleed fluid from all wheels until the
fluid comes out clear and clean. Do this to the clutch as well.
Now drive the car some and watch the fluid level in the master cylinder. If
it drops AT ALL you have a leak somewhere in the system. Most likely place
is the bore of the master cylinder. Pull the rubber boot back from the
cylinder and look for dampness. This is located on the inside of the
firewall where the pedal push rod goes into the m/c. You might also see a
trail of dampness removing paint from the fire wall. This means that you
need your master cylinder resleeved and new seals put in.
Second most likely leaking spot is into the power brake booster unit.
Other place to check is the wheel cylinders.
The best thing to do is to pull ALL of the brake components out of the car
and have them rebuilt or replaced. Trying to replace just the parts that
are leaking today will guarantee that you get to fix your brakes multiple
times over the next year. Bite the bullet and do the whole thing in one big
expensive shot. Then you know you are safe and you won't have to mess with
that system again.
