Don't touch the brake booster unless you absolutely know it is not
working. Brake boosters will generally suck brake fluid into vacuum
canister and then suck the brake fluid into the engine which blows it out
the tail pipe in a blue cloud when they fail. If you are loosing brake
fluid and can't figure out where it is going, it is usually in the vacuum
canister and if you get blue smoke out the tail pipe, it's brake fluid
sucked into the engine.

I would say for now just go through the brake system, rebuild the
calipers and the rear cylinder if needed and then bleed the brake system
until clear fluid is flowing. Now start the engine, let it run and hit the
brake a couple of times, they should feel firm. Turn the engine off and
observe the level of the brake fluid in the master cylinder and let the car
set for a day or 2 then look at the brake fluid level. If no change in the
level your OK. If the level has changed first look for any noticeable
leaks, if none are found then vacuum is pulling fluid into the booster and
you will have to deal with the booster. Read the Workshop Manual section
about the brake booster before attempt working on it.

CAT Parts lists rebuild kits but you have to be a member of the club
to order parts; 5" Lucas rebuild kit SP2230-2 $84, 7" kit SP2228-3 $88
and replacement boosters cost about $345.   Girling booster come in 2 sizes;
5 inch and 7 inch, this is the size of the vacuum canister. I don't know
how good or complete these kits are. Has anyone ordered and used one of
these kits lately?

The rebuild kits that were available, years ago, were not always
very good, many didn't contain the right parts or enough parts to rebuild a
booster. I know one rebuilder who had to search several kit to get the
parts to rebuild one booster, also rebuilding the brake booster is not an
easy job and there are a number of procedures that need to be followed to
have a successful rebuild. It is also very easy to break important parts,
so be very careful with this part.

ok sorry guys about all the ?s, i have ?s on the brake booster rebuild.

So what do i have to do to take it off? do i need to bleed the system
first?
If i do, then im going to have to wait until warmer. But if not, and i just

can unhook everything from it, then i can rebuild it now. Also where can i
get the rebuild kit? From a NAPA. Also about how much does it cost?
