You have to remember that this is entertainment; the editor is
producing a product his company will buy and sell; we get short sheeted.
The editor doesn't give a rats butt about seeing a torque wrench at work
unless there is an argument involved. Also remember that these shows have
parts thrown at them by vendors to get product air time and that most of the
work is done by the real work crew and not the talking heads in front of the
camera trying to read the script.

If you want to see engineering, you get some on Dream Car Garage and more on
Sports Car Revolution, both on Speed TV. The rest of them are show you a
little, tell you a little and you assume responsibility for the rest
including fill in the blanks.

The part that gets to me on both the car and bike shows is that the
vehicles
appear to be built for looks and looks only. It doesn't seem that there is

much solid engineering behind them.
Someone mentioned cutting up oil pans. How about when things don't fit and

they just decide to move the engine back 3 or 4 inches? Hmm, I wonder if
anyone considers what that might do the handling and braking of the car. In
all of the times that I've watched any of these shows, I've only seen a
torque wrench appear once. How would you like to cruise at interstate
speeds
on one of these thrown together bikes or cars? And if they aren't just
thrown together, then the shop owner, in my opinion, is pretty foolish for
allowing it to appear that way in a show.
