Similar to what? The 150 Stromberg or the dual SUs? The obect to improved
breathing is to provide as much air/fuel as the engine needs, in the
shortest, smoothest route possible. Ask the mechanic if he's ever "massaged"
a 150 manifold into accepting a 175. I'm curious. Anyway, the stock manifold
has more sharp, restrictive turns than either the SU or the Weber setup. The
single carb would certainly be simpler, but it would also cost you some
"zoom".

Check with Ted Schumacher of TS Imports in Pandora, Ohio. Not too long ago he
had some HS4 carbs on manifolds from some Euro-spec Spits. I think he was
selling them for about $200 (you clean and overhaul) a set. Cheaper than
Webers and a much better performance choice that a 175 CD on a massaged
manifold.
