I don't know what to tell you. I would like to point out that I realize I
could be wrong... maybe it really doesn't matter. The DPO I speak of went
through a number of starters, in fact, when we drove the car home, it had
NO starter! We had to push start it! And, we never put a starter on it
ourselves until the ring gear had been turned around, as I recall, so we
never experienced any starter troubles at all. I assumed this was due to
the ring gear being correctly installed, finally. Who knows? I would,
however, like to also point out that there isn't any reason that I can
think of for the bevel to be on the clutch side of the flywheel. It is
logical that it should be on the starter side, no? Why would be
illustrated incorrectly in the Bentley Manual? Got no idea.
