Save your money with those additives and just buy some new gear oil.
chances are it did not get changed very often. Before replacing the gearbox
be sure to get a price from John Kipping in the UK for a rebuilt one. I got
one delivered UPS for under $400. Don't pay all that extra money to the US
guys, buy someting else instead.

I insulated the entire underside of the gearbox cover with boiler wrap.
It is a thick (about 1") high density neoprene I got from a heating supply.
Others have used other forms of insulation as well.
After screwing the cover back down I use a shiny metal (silver) tape (NOT
duct tape) from a place like Home Depot and tape from the cover to the tub
to ensure a seal and eliminate hot air from blowing in the cabin.
Insulate the firewall behind the carpet. Also look for openings in the
firewall (from the engine side) that have rubber grommets and plugs missing.
Either get new plugs or fill with silicone.

I get between 24-28 depending on how I am driving. But don't be suprised
if you get 20 in town. All that fun driving winding out the gears and
skidding around corners will reduce your mileage. But to me the extra couple
of bucks at fill up time is worth it.
You might occasionally get a 5 gal jug of high octane (105-110) leaded
racing fuel and mix it 50-50 with super unleaded. This is usually available
at hotrod shops in town (or they can tell you where to get it).

Another factor is what size tires you are running. Due to a bounce on my
speedo at 70 I double my tack to get my speed in 4th. I am using 175x70x13
tires.
You might want to get a friend to follow you and tell you how fast you
are going when your speedo is at 35 and again at 60. The 35 is so you don't
get tickets in residential areas and 60 is to get away in the 55 areas.
