Harold,    If the car in question has a resistor WIRE, the car must be running 
to see the results you describe.   Also, running voltage will be more like 7 to 
9 vdc. (the wire must heat up to drop the voltage, according to the folks at 
Crane Ignitions.)

The Drive resistor?   Thats the Lucas thingie that causes different parts of 
the car to break, just when you'd like to go for a nice Drive!  :-) :-)
