Make sure to leave the plug in the coil end:  I've been assured that it's
not good for the coil to pull the coil end plug and turn the motor over.
Why worry about grounding out the ignition system?  Because you'll have 
gas/air mixture leaking out the spark plug holes, just looking to cause  
trouble.

It would seem to me that a much simpler option would be simply to
disconnect the power supply to the coil. Viola! Whole ignition system is
deactivated.
