I've spent the better part of last Tuesday looking for a replacement
muffler for my GT6+. I wasn't able to find one in the Vancouver area,
and I was told that they haven't been built for some time.

I can see from the various catalogues that I have that stainless
exhaust systems are available, but I don't have the budget for the
$500CDN (landed) that it will be.

I also have a new NOS Monza system for a GT6+ in storage, but I had
one of these on before, and I find that it is too loud for my taste.
     (It sure looks great, though).

What I've finally decided to do is to adapt a TR4 muffler. The 'can'
is the same size and shape as the GT6+ can, the inlet is in the right
place and *appears* to be the same diameter (or larger) than the stock
GT6+, and it has only one, albeit larger, outlet in the correct place.
It also has 2 hanger brackets on it, but I think that I'll use only
one. This has cost me *only* $100, and was available immediately.

There are two other things I have found out. The Midas Muffler
warehouse in Vancouver has 'Spitfire' mufflers in stock. These sound
similar in size and shape to the aforementioned TR4 muffler I bought
(one inlet, one outlet, larger bores), and are said to have GT6 spec
baffling inside the can. They are priced at about $150.

I've also heard that Walker will be doing a run of GT6+ mufflers
sometime in the fall/winter. No idea on pricing, though.
