The wiring diagrams in both the Haynes manual and the Bentley are
hopelessly incorrect for the midrange TR6s like yours and mine. In either
book, they do not recognize the existance of either the steering lock or
the voltmeter (as opposed to the earlier ammeter) until '75-'76. Very
frustrating. Take a look at the diagram for the '75-'76 cars and you'll
get a better representation of what's in your car.

Here is how mine are connected, as best I can tell: I should point out
that I have installed an Allison ignition system, so that may screw things
up for you...

I just went out to look at mine, and I can't tell you exactly where the two
wires (other than the big one from the battery;^)) go for certain.
However, if you check out that other diagram like I said, I think that'll
clear things up quite a bit. You should have, if your harness hasn't been
chopped up like mine has, a cluster of brown wires connecting to a
connector block halfway down the positive battery terminal. Mine no longer
has this, no need to explain why... On my car I've got a white (with red
stripe) wire going to the lower solenoid terminal, and what appears to be
TWO heavier brown wires going to one Lucar connector at the upper solenoid
terminal. They all come from the other side of the bulkhead (under the
dash). But, remember, I've had to "modify" the wiring harness on mine. As
far as the coil goes, I have three wires connecting to the coil, but they
are all from this Allison system.

Good luck!
