Hi Fred & list,

I'll 2nd your opinion of John and Chips restoration shop. VERY impressive.
Must be nice to make money doing something that the rest of us have to
pay to do!!

Listers, for those of you who haven't seen Fred's TR3A up close and in
person you're missing a real treat. Thats one beautiful car. Kind of makes
me want to keep my Spit under wraps in my garage. Fred has quite a stable
of nice vehicles. Better yet he has a wonderful wife who puts up with his
car hobby. I believe that is harder to find than these cars that we treasure.

I must admit, up to this point the "vacation/LBC parts hunting trip" has
been extremely enjoyable and costly!! I've managed to meet at least five
members of this list on the trip so far. I've seen Jack Drews and his great
TR4 Ralley car, Andy Mace's stable of projects, Tony Rhodes to exchange
parts with, Fred Thomas for inspiration and John Lye for some hard to find
TR4 items. In my opinion every person I've met from this list has been a
class act. This trip has accomplished just about all my goals for parts that I
had been missing. Now if only I had more money to spend!! So far I've
traveled over 3300 miles and have about 600 yet to go. I've also stopped at
two LBC parts places, Team Triumph in Warren Ohio and British Miles
close to Philadelphia PA. At both of those places I managed to come up
with some parts that I desperately needed. Best of all I got an OD and
tranny from British miles that should allow me to make it to Portland Maine
for the VTR convention next year. Do you hear that Andy Mace, I'll be
there in an LBC will you? <BG> Yeah, thats a challenge, are you game?

The final portion of this trip takes place tomorrow afternoon when I stop in
Carbondale Illinois to pickup the $300 TR3A that I bought. The PO told me
that its been raining there for over two days and the car is sitting in a field
of clay. Don't even know if I can get the trailer down close to the car yet.
I
may have to do some long distance winching with a 2 ton come-a-long. I've
allowed myself up to two days to get the car onto the trailer. Considering
that when they pulled the car with a dozer a while back and the wheels
didn't turn I figure I'm going to need some luck on this one.

Note to John Lye. John since I can't get email directly to you yet I wanted
to use this space to say thanks for helping me locate all those parts. As
near as I can tell that pretty much completes my list of used parts that I
needed. Of course once I get home thats liable to change again!! This
obviously applies to Chip as well.

Thanks all.
