Ian,
They rebuilt my servo 2-3 years ago. Price was about the same as your
quoting. 
No problems with it since.

I ran mine for several years when I was in college without the servo.
Needless to 
say, I managed without. Most people at least here in the states runs
without, because no one here works on them.
