I've just recently learned to weld and have run the gamut of headgear ( I have
3 helmets).
FWIW, I thought that I just HAD to have an auto-dimming lens.....UNTIL I tried
the largest format lens I could find.
For me, the problem was trying to get the helmet down and not lose my place.
The large window allows me to drop the helmet and still have the work in the
field of view. I'm so glad I didn't drop the money for an auto-dimming lens as
that money is better spent on much needed restoration parts.
