I hate to disagree Doug, but it definitely was only 1974 models in the US
that had the "sit down, buckle up, THEN start car" interlock. Reminder
lights and buzzers dated several years previous and also from 1975 on, but
the actual interlock was only 1974. I know; I've lived, at various times,
with 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1975 Spitfires (as well as earlier ones
without such encumbrances), and it was only the 1974 that had the
interlock. Same with mom's long-gone '74 Volvo, as opposed to earlier and
later models that I was also somewhat familiar with.
