>Dear Listers:

I am trying to connect my tachometer cable to the distributor (after the
rebuild)...but it does not quite reach. The timing is set, but the part of
the distributor where the tack cable goes needs to be rotated in a bit for
it to work. It is now facing a quater turn away requiring the tach cable to
have to make a right turn to reach it. Is there a way to do rotate the
receptacle so that the tach cable has a straight shot to connect?

Jonathan,

You might have the tach drive gear in the wrong position. You can remedy
this by removing the gear and reinstalling in a different position. Or you
can just index the sparkplugs and rotate the dizzy so that the plug wires
are now in the same position as before but the dizzy is now rotated to a
position more suitable for attaching the cable.

Be carefull with this last suggestion as it can get you labelled as a DPO!
But for diagnostic purposes this can be of service.

Dave
