The torque dissipated by the brakes is due to the need to decelerate around
2,000 lbs of vehicle.  Lighter wheels will make little or no difference.
The fact that the wheels are unsprung will make little or no difference to
braking effciency, either.  Wire wheels may result in better brake cooling,
but that's about it.

Rather than drilling the rotors, which will both weaken the rotor and reduce
the swept area, I would go with uprated pads and leave the rotors well
enough alone.
