Greetings All,
With the Spitfire running well, I decided to finally pull the TR6 into
the garage to start getting it roadworthy. I bought this 3 months ago
and have been putting silcroil on the exhaust manifold studs every other
week getting set for a gasket replacement. That may be why all the studs
came out without one broken one. Also the "tighten first" rule was
actually used as well. I've been dreading this job since I got the car,
but thanks to the hints I've aquired from this list, at least this task
was a breeze. I do have to ask for a bit of advice, though. I bought a
new manifold gasket a few months ago, knowing I'd be doing this job, and
it's a dark grey, soft material, like graphite. The old one I removed is
metal. Should I try to find the same type that came out or just go with
the one in hand? Also, should it be installed dry, or with gasket
adhesive? I'd like to do this job only once, because even though the
bolts came out, I really don't want to make a habit out of
this.(yeah, right!!) Thanks to any and all for the help.
