Yes, the reason you see gold used in electronics contacts is not because
it's a great conductor, but because it doesn't tarnish as rapidly as copper,
silver, aluminum, etc.

Silver used to be used for relay contacts and such (which require a hard
metal to resist wear), but has been replaced by other alloys that work
better and cost less.
