Peter,

I am very much on your side on this. To me... the tonneau cover is the most
useful option on the car. I keep it on all the time... with both sides open
when it's warm and sunny... and with the passenger's side up and the heat on
on those chilly mornings in the spring. It only comes off for a long high
speed highway run. If I had to choose between a top and a tonneau... I would
choose the tonneau first.

Of course, I have TR4 with the "get out and erect the top" feature. But I
also have my old, but still useful, black top with the rear window cut out for
those runs where you want to cut down on the interstate noise and control the
wind. I loved that feature on my TR6 back in the 70s. I also have a new
"clear windows" Robbins top that makes a very good watertight seal for the
times when you get caught in a real rain.

It's only at car shows that I take all the stuff off.
