I've just received a rebuilt Lucas alternator (from Spitbits) for my 78 Spit
and was looking it over. Noticed that although it has the same connection
to the harness that the old one has, there is an additional small gauge wire
coming from the old one that doesn't exist on the replacement.

Anyone have an idea what the purpose is of the extra wire coming from the
original alternator?

Do I need it on the new one? Or can I simply ignore it?
