To dry the car. First you wet it down, (sounds like a joke so far, doesn't
it?) and then you wring out all excess water and lay it flat and pull
across the bodywork and it will magically pick up all the water. Wring it
out often. They work quite well but have a half life of about 5 car washes
after which they work with diminished effectiveness. An amazing low tech
device.
