agree that gas will burn in a vapor state.so how does one stop the gas
from flowing out the other holes while welding-up the 1st pin hole? This
is what I would call an Oxy-moron? or Poor Billy trying to fix the hole
in the roof! :-\

Good point. The gas in the tank will not burn but the gas oozing out
through the pin holes will gatch fire. If one works fast and mops up the
gas with a rag this can be kept to a tolerable minimum. Anyone who has
welded painted steel knows about welding through flames.
